Talented 17hh Thoroughbred Gelding for Sale
9-year-old, 17hh Thoroughbred gelding looking for an experienced and sympathetic home. He raced until the age of three and would be ideally suited to someone who understands and enjoys Thoroughbreds, particularly ex-racehorses.
He is a fantastic horse to hack, both alone and in company. He regularly hacks more than 10 miles solo and confidently crosses busy A-roads and motorway bridges, taking large vehicles in his stride.
He loves his jumping and has enjoyed both showjumping and cross-country course hires. He has also taken part in sponsored rides and ride-and-lead, and travels well when accompanied. With his ability and scope, he could make a fun grassroots eventing prospect, but he would be equally content with an experienced rider wanting a quality horse for hacking and varied activities.
He turns out happily in a mixed herd and enjoys the company of other horses.
He is a sensitive, forward-thinking ride who can become hot or stressed and will pick up on tension from his rider. He therefore needs a calm, confident and experienced person who is prepared to give him the time and consistency needed to build a partnership. He is not suitable for a novice or nervous rider.
He can become excited in familiar cantering areas and may put in a large buck, although this has been easily sat. He does not bolt or rear.
He crib-bites/windsucks, which can increase when he is stressed. He also has a previous history of gastric ulcers, although he is currently settled and doing well. His history and management can be discussed fully with genuinely interested buyers.
He would suit a true Thoroughbred-loving rider down to the ground—someone who wants to have plenty of fun while remaining sympathetic to the lasting effects that racing can have on some horses.
He currently has all 4 shoes, he is good to shoe, load/box/teeth.
due to previous ulcers needs someone with knowledge around suitable feeds as this plays a big role. ad lib hay always. can live out happily or be stabled every night but he will crib and eat consistently.

He needs someone with lots of time and patient that is willing to work with him at his pace. I unfortunately don’t have the time or the money anymore to give him what he needs and he deserves so much more.
